A Socio-technical Cross-Country Analysis

An important part of the NORDeHEALTH research project has been to explore the differences in socio-technical contexts. The recently published article “Sociotechnical Cross-Country Analysis of Contextual Factors That Impact Patients’ Access to Electronic Health Records in 4 European Countries” explores how patients access their electronic health records (EHRs) in Estonia, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. This is the first in a series of articles comparing different aspects of patients online record access across countries. The research applies a socio-technical framework to compare key factors like infrastructure, regulation, and policies across these nations. It highlights how differences in governance affect access and adoption of patient-accessible EHRs. The study’s goal is to inform future health IT implementations through cross-country comparisons.
